Musica, the impulse-center for music and music education in Flanders, has worked together with Geert Van Gele for several years: many times as an especially enthusiastic faculty member during our recorder workshops, and an impressive amount of times as a concert performer.
Geert has always shown great professionalism in his performances. This coupled with his innate musicality and his authenticity as a performer were the keys to his success with early music- as well as contemporary programs. With his incredible ability to be on-target musically, and his evidently natural flair, he is continually able to convince and excite every kind of public time and time again -- young and old, connoisseurs as well as musical novices. With his very personal approach to performing, he has even generated a sort of "fanclub" of young people who follow his concerts.
Geert, for me, is synonomous with a new musical generation which has grown up amid all genres of music; because of this, he experiences no boundaries between the genres, but approaches them all with an open mind, and brings this openness to his listeners. This ability makes him an especially exciting musician, and a groundbreaking one, because it shows in which direction creative music-making can grow in the future, even for the more intimite genres such as recorder music.
Our organisation certainly intends to work with Geert on several projects in the future. As convinced as I am of his quality, I would like to recommend Geert very strongly to everyone who has an ear and an eye for creative and enthusiastic music making.
